Men and Women Cross Country Finish 2nd At Leopard Invitational

Both teams place five runners in top 20

EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette cross country team continued its season Saturday morning at home in the Leopard Invitational at Metzgar Fields.
 
On the men's side, the Leopard had a strong performance, finishing second out of six teams. Leading the pack for the men was sophomore Michael Neeson, finishing 15th out of 68 runners with a time of 27:23.62. Right behind Neeson was senior Mark DiPaola, finishing less than a second behind in in 16th place with a time of 27:24.33. Rounding out the top five was freshman Brian Clayton (17th, 27:26.33), sophomore Thomas Anthony (18th, 27:29.64), and freshman Austin Barry (18th, 27:30.63). The tremendous pack running ability of the Leopards was the difference in this meet.
 
Marist senior Michael Kennedy set the pace for the event, finishing with a time of 26:19.34.
 
The women also had a successful day, also finishing second out of the seven-team field. Senior Caroline Harmon lead the charge, finishing seventh of 73 runners with a time of 23:29.91. Shortly behind Harmon was freshman Autumn Sands, finishing 10th overall with a time of 23:52.66. Rounding out the top five for the women were sophomore Gabrielle Galletta (14th, 24:13.84), senior Emily Moore (16th, 24:26.19) and sophomore Ainsley Jacobs (17th, 24:34.08).
 
Marist sophomore Gianna Tedeschi was the women's overall winner, finishing with a time of 22:14.45.
 
This completes the regular season for the Leopards. The Patriot League Championships are set for Oct. 27 at 11 a.m.
