NEW YORK, N.Y.
- Head coach Mick Statham
used the final non-league game of the 2018 women's soccer regular season as an opportunity to rest some regulars in a 3-0 loss to Columbia at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium.
Playing for the second time in 48 hours, the Leopards were able to spread minutes around fairly evenly among the 19 healthiest players on the roster. The Lions netted two goals in the first half and added an insurance goal in the 70th minute in registering their third clean sheet of the season. Columbia matched the Leopards with liberal substitutions and spread the scoring around among three different players.
Lafayette begins a critical four-game stretch run to close out the Patriot League season with rival Lehigh on Saturday night at the Mountain Hawks' Ulrich Sports Complex. The Leopards and Lehigh are among three teams currently tied for 7th in the league standings - one game behind Holy Cross. Only the top six teams will qualify for the Patriot League postseason tournament which begins at the end of the month.
