Lafayette Basketball Set To Once Again Dominate The Airwaves

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The 2001-02 Lafayette men's and women's basketball seasons will see a Patriot League-best 23 contests hit the television airwaves via the Lafayette Sports Network and the Patriot League television package, starting with the men's contest at Penn State on Wednesday, Nov. 21. In addition, all 26 men's regular season games and 11 women's games will be broadcast on WEST-AM 1400 for the 66th consecutive season. The live audio and video feed of all broadcasted events will be available simultaneously on Lafayette's award-winning Web site, www.lafayette.edu.

The Lafayette Sports Network, the most expansive television package in the Patriot League five years running, can be seen by more than 5.2 million viewers in the Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia, the Pocono region, central New Jersey, New York City and Boston.

Regionally, the telecasts will be aired on RCN TV-4 and WBPH TV-60, and will cover the entire Lehigh Valley, as well as Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Mercer, and Warren counties in New Jersey. Games can be seen on on RCN Cable channels 4 and 60, Service Electric cable channel 51, Suburban Cable channel 17, Blue Ridge Cable channel 5, and broadcast channel 60. All games will be aired live.

RCN Sports Director Gary Laubach will handle all of the Leopards' play-by-play duties for the fifth straight season. John Leone, Lafayette's director of alumni relations, is in his fifth season serving as the color analyst. RCN newcomer Dan Mowdy will report on the Leopards from the sidelines.

One of the longest running radio broadcast relationships in college basketball, WEST-AM 1400 and Lafayette basketball will again fill the Lehigh Valley airwaves. WEST sports director Dick Hammer, one of the most experienced radio broadcasters in the Northeast, enters his 36th season of handling play-by-play duties.

Nationally recognized as a leader in collegiate sports broadcasting on regional television and radio, Lafayette's Web site has quickly become one of the most popular mediums for Leopard fans. The sports portal of www.lafayette.edu received more than 1.8 million page views in the 2000-01 athletic seasons as 103 audio or video webcasts were made available.
