Field Hockey Announces Six Class of 2025 Newcomers

Leopards bring in four internationals and one each from California and Connecticut

EASTON, Pa. - Lafayette field hockey head coach Jennifer Stone announced on Wednesday afternoon the addition of six new Leopards to the Lafayette Class of 2025. The newest Leopards hail from four different countries, with two from The Netherlands, two from the United States in California and Connecticut, and one each from New Zealand and British Columbia.

darrah

Alex Darrah: Started all four years and defense and midfield, while also playing three years of lacrosse and two years of squash...served as a team captain in the 2019 and 2020 seasons, earning MVP both years...named a NEPSAC Class A All-Star in 2018 and 2019 and an All-NEPSAC First-Team Honorable Mention in 2019...won a Founders League Championship in lacrosse in 2019...earned a spot on the high honor roll all four years and was selected to the NFHCA All-Academic Team and as a Scholar of Distinction in 2019...earned Science and Language Department honors in 2017-18 and 2018-19...served as her class' Vice President in 2018-19, the leader of the Athletic Association from 2019-21, a Dorm Prefect in 2019-20, a Campus Tour Guide from 2018-21, an Orientation Leader in 2020 and performed with the Musical Revue group on campus in 2020-21...played on the club circuit with Field Hockey Club of Connecticut in Fairfield...daughter of Amy and Paul Darrah...has an older brother, Matthew.

Laine Delmotte: Played five years of field hockey in the midfield, five years of soccer at midfield and striker and five years of basketball at small forward...named the Carson Graham Athlete of the Year in grades eight, nine and 10...played on the club hocker circuit with Team BC, winning a U15 national championship and silver at the U18 level...also played for FH Canada NextGen during a Holland Tour with the U17 team...won a clb soccer championship with MUFC at the U15 level...daughter of Nicole and Stuart Delmotte...has a younger brother, Graeme, and an older sister, Imogen.

Filine Gerbrandij: Competed in the Super B National League with Craeyenhout's U16 team in 2017-18 and 2018-19... Regular practice and competition with Craeyenhout first senior team in season 2018-2019... Full member of Craeyenhout first senior team in season 2019-2020, while officially a youth player… Moved to HC Klein Zwitserland, to play at the highest national youth level...was a Tutor, member of the yearbook commission and Junior Mentor for First-Year Students at Leiden University...daughter of Mechteld and Gerben-Jan Gerbrandij...has a younger brother, Tymo, and an older brother, Caspar.

Why Filine Chose Lafayette: "I really like Lafayette because of the high quality of education and the beauty of its campus. The relatively small scale gives it a personal touch I expect to feel comfortable with. The sports program at Lafayette really impressed me. The field hockey team combines a great competitive spirit with a nice atmosphere."

Mackenzie Hall: Played four years in the midfield, winning a league championship...served as a team captain in her junior and senior seasons, winning All-Avocado East League First-Team honors, Offensive MVP laurels and a selection to the All-Tournament Team at the Sierra Hockey Tournament...earned a spot on the Principal's Academic Honor Roll...participated in the Associated Student Body, Class Council and the California Scholarship Foundation...played ont the club circuit with U19-Rush Field Hockey Club, ranked ninth nationally...daughter of Angela and Kenneth Hall...has a younger sister Karlie, two older sisters, Solanda and Cassie, and two older brothers, Blake and Kenny.

India Ralph: Played for four years at Sacred Heart Girls Catholic College from 2015-19, serving as team captain in 2019...played her 2020 season at Saint Kentigern College and served as Vice Captain...named the Most Prestigious Player for Saint Kentigern First XI Hockey in 2020...earned the National Certificate of Educational Achievement Levels 1, 2 and 3...played on the club circuit with Verity Sharland, winning national championships in 2018 and 2019...daughter of Karla and Stephen Ralph...has an older sister, Hope who is a current member of the New Zealand Black Sticks.

Lineke Spaans: Played field hockey and tennis, patrolling the midfield and central defense...won a Dutch Championship in 2016...served as team captain in 2015-16, 2017-18 and 2020-21...led her team to second and third place finishes the the Dutch Indoor Championship in 2019 and 2020...earned honors throughout her academic career...played on the club circuit for Gooische and also trained with the Pre-National B Team...daughter of WHM Kok and Marcel Spaans...has a younger sister, Annelotte, a younger brother, Severyn, and an older brother Diederick.
