EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Senior Catherine Carson (York, Pa./Episcopal) finished in 10th place to pace the Lafayette women's cross country team on Saturday at the Leopard Invitational at Lafayette's Metzgar Fields course.

Carson ran her home course in 22:13.

"Catherine Carson had another great race. Set set a personal record by over a minute," said head coach Julio Piazza. "She has a legitimate shot of being All-Patriot League at the end of the season."

Junior Erin Wyble (Wharton, N.J./Morris Hills) was the Leopards' second place finisher, placing 41st in the 65-runner field in a time of 23:20.

Junior Lauren McHale (Seaville, N.J./Ocean City) was the Leopards' third finisher, ending in 52nd in 24:02.

"Lauren McHale was a nice surprise," Piazza said. " She ran a fine race in her first time out this season. We're looking for good things from her. All of the work that she's been doing during the cross country season will pay diviends in the indoor and outdoor seasons for the former New Jersey state champion in the 800."

Junior Sara Latosz (Greenwich, Conn./ Greenwich) placed 55th in 24:15 followed by freshman Caitlyn Herman (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury) in 63rd in a time of 25:15.

Rutgers' Julie Cullery took the overall individual title with a time of 21:06. St. Joseph's won the team competition with 44 points, after placing three runners in the top 10.

Lafayette returns to action two weeks from today, competing at the Patriot League Championships at Lehigh on Oct. 28.

"The Patriot League Championships is the meet we've been pointing to for the whole season," Piazza said.
