BALTIMORE (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's tennis team improved to a perfect 5-0 record as they downed Coppin State 7-0 today in Baltimore.
Lafayette's No.1 and 2 singles players Matt Coin (Wenonah, N.J./Gateway) and H'Cone Thompson (Washington, D.C./DeMatha) topped their opponents 6-1, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-2 as they both improve to 8-0 on the season.
Sophomore Mike Durette (Avon, Conn./Suffield Academy) improved to a 5-0 record in the fall season at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout of his Eagles' challenger.
Juniors Ryan Collins (Whitehouse Station, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional), Dan Seward (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) and sophomore Devin Murphy (Ruxton, Md./Boys Latin School) also won in straight sets by competing in the No.3, 4 and 6 singles spots.
Lafayette (5-0) looks to close out the fall duel match season when it travels to Philadelphia to take on La Salle on Oct. 11 at 3:30.
