EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Five out of six singles matches were won by Lafayette as the men's tennis team cruised by Franklin & Marshall, 6-1, on Friday at Sullivan Courts.
Lafayette (3-4) picked up singles wins from freshman H'Cone Thompson (Washington, D.C./DeMatha), sophomore Ryan Collins (Whitehouse Station, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional), junior Mike Levey (Pin Brook, N.J./Montville), freshman Mike Durette (Avon, Conn./Suffield Academy) and freshman Devin Murphy (Buxton, Md./Boys Latin School) en route to the victory. The Leopards also swept the doubles matches against the visiting Diplomats.
Franklin & Marshall (1-4) picked up its lone point from junior Stephen Emkey's 6-3, 3-6 (7) win over Dan Seward (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West).
The Leopards begin their spring Patriot League slate in Hamilton, N.Y., on Saturday vs. Colgate.
