Women's Tennis Falls At Colgate, 5-2

HAMILTON, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette women's tennis team's two-match winning streak was snapped on Saturday as the Leopards lost their Patriot League opener to Colgate, 5-2, in Hamilton, N.Y.

Freshman Monika Serrano (Caracas, Venezuela/Wallenpaupak) beat Colgate's Lindsey Suffredini in No. 5 singles, 6-0, 7-6, while fellow freshman teammate Ali Kelley (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) recorded Lafayette's other point by defeating Emily Wenink, 6-1, 6-3, in No. 6 singles action.

Lafayette (8-3, 0-1) was swept in doubles competition by the Red Raiders (5-8, 1-0) while suffering its first defeat since March 11 vs. Rutgers.

The Leopards' next match is a Patriot League home meeting with archrival Lehigh on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
