BALTIMORE (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's tennis team was back into action on Tuesday after two washouts over the weekend as they swept Loyola, 7-0, in Baltimore.
H'Cone Thompson (Washington, D.C./DeMatha) won his No. 1 singles match over John McConnell, 7-5, 6-2 to improve to 10-7 in his flight on the season. Co-captain Dan Seward (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) was a 6-2, 6-1 victor in No. 2 singles over Brian Johnson and Ryan Collins (Whitehouse Station, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) improved to 13-4 on the year with a hard-fought 6-2, 7-6 (4), 6-3 win over John Glowacki in No. 3 singles.
Co-captain Mike Levey (Pine Brook, N.J./Montville), Mike Durette (Avon, Conn./Suffield Academy) and Lazar Nikolic (Belgrade, Yugoslavia/Walker) won singles flights four through six.
Loyola falls to 11-9 overall this year with the loss to the Leopards.
Lafayette improves to 6-7 on the year as they return home to face Navy on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
