BALTIMORE (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette squeaked by Loyola, 5-4, in women's tennis action on Tuesday, improving to 11-3 on the year.

After dropping their first two singles matches, the Leopards came back to win the last four singles flights, starting with Shannon Rowe (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) who beat Jennifer Steele, 6-4, 6-3, in No. 3 singles. Co-captain Felicia Turturiello (Berkely Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) won her No. 4 singles flight, 6-2, 7-6 (5), over Kaitlin Russo, and Monika Serrano (Caracas, Venezuela/Wallenpaupak) improved to 14-1 on the year with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 win in No. 5 singles.

Freshman Ali Kelley (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) notched a 6-2, 7-5 victory in No. 6 singles over Anita Cheung while the doubles team of Meghan Rowe (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) and Turturiello won in No. 2 doubles to give the Leopards the win.

Loyola suffered only its second loss of the year, dropping to 15-2 overall.

Lafayette heads to West Point, N.Y., on Wednesday for a Patriot League match vs. Army.
