BETHLEHEM, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette sophomore Kevin Penderghest (Lindenwood, N.J./Paul VI) fought off a host of Lehigh runners to finish third (26:25.6), but inconsistency in the Leopards' lineup plagued them in a loss in the annual 8K cross country dual against Lehigh on Friday.
Junior Tom Kennedy (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) was Lafayette's second scorer finishing ninth overall in a time of 27:00.8.
The Leopards' scoring was completed when freshman Nicholas Birosik (New Ringgold, Pa./Tamaqua), sophomore Colin McDonough (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe), and another freshman, Nickolas Baldwin (Norfolk, Va./Norview) crossed the finish line in 11th, 12th and 13th places respectively.
Baldwin finished the course in 27:20.2, McDonough in 27:35.4 and Baldwin in 27:39.2.
Lafayette finished with 45 points, while the victorious Mountain Hawks totaled 18.
