WEST POINT, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's tennis team fell to Patriot League foe Army, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Litchenberg Tennis Center in West Point, N.Y.
Army (12-5, 2-2) started the match winning all three doubles matches led by the Albornoz brothers, Arnie and Rafael, who teamed up in the top doubles spot to defeat Lafayette's Matt Coin and H'Cone Thompson, 8-2.
At No. 2 doubles, Ryan Collins and John Zazzu fell to John Sabia and Jeff Lau, 8-5. Lafayette's Devin Murphy and Brian Schubert competed at No. 3 doubles, falling to Army's Sonny Avichal and Sebastian Salas, 8-1.
In singles action, Coin suffered his first loss of the season, falling to Sabia 6-0, 6-2. At No. 2 singles, Army's Arnie Albornoz pushed past Thompson, 7-5, 6-2.
The Leopards' Collins (No. 3) fell to Rafael Albornoz 6-1, 6-0. Army's Avichal beat Murphy (No. 4) 6-1, 6-0 while Lafayette's Zazzu fell to Skrobarcek, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. At No. 6 singles, the Black Knights' Sebastian Salas beat Lafayette's Mike Levey, 6-0, 6-1.
Lafayette (7-2, 1-2) returns to action on Thursday at Fordham at 3:30 p.m.
