WEST POINT, N.Y. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Leopard men's tennis team swept all six singles matches in straight sets on their way to a 7-0 win over Patriot League foe Holy Cross on Saturday in West Point, N.Y.
Freshman Matt Coin topped the Crusaders' Mike Corey at No. 1 singles (6-3, 6-4) while junior co-captain H'Cone Thompson beat Gerry Benedicto at the No. 2 spot, 6-1, 6-1.
Junior Ryan Collins and sophomore Devin Murphy notched wins at No. 3 and 4 singles, winning in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, and 6-1, 6-3.
Freshman John Zazzu and senior Mike Levey finished the day with wins at No. 5 and 6 singles, beating their Holy Cross counterparts 6-3, 6-4 and 6-4, 6-1.
In doubles action, Coin/Thompson (8-6) and Collins/Zazzu (8-5) teamed up for wins at the No. 1 and 2 spots while Murphy/Brian Schubert picked up a win at No. 3 doubles, 8-3.
Lafayette (7-1, 1-1) travels to New York City to play Fordham on Thursday at 3:30.
