BETHLEHEM, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette women's tennis team battled archrival Lehigh on Goodman Campus on Tuesday, dropping the Patriot League matchup, 7-0. Three of the top four singles spots fought back to win the second set, but fell in a tiebreaker as the Leopards drop to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in league play.
Junior Lily Fardishisheh and sophomores Monika Serrano and Ali Kelley each lost their matches in a third set tie-breaker at the Nos. 1, 2 and 3 singles spots. Junior Shannon Rowe fell at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-4 to Lehigh's Jamie Faas.
Sophomores Jessica Abel and Lisa Sayed fell at No. 5 and 6 singles to the Mountain Hawks' Meggan Dencker and Andrea Scott.
In doubles action, Fardishisheh/Rowe teamed up at No. 1 doubles followed by Serrano/Kelley at No. 2 and Abel/Sayed at No. 3. The Mountain Hawks utilized a deep bench and fresh legs to defeat all three Leopard doubles squads.
Lafayette returns to action on Friday at Seton Hall at 3 p.m.
