SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette women's tennis team came up short versus the Pirates of Seton Hall as it fell, 7-0 on Friday in South Orange, N.J.
Junior Lily Fardshisheh (Potomac, Md./Holton Arms) fell at No. 1 singles to Seton Hall's Kim Barfuss, 6-0, 6-1, while the Pirates' Kyli Lassalle defeated Lafayette's Monika Serrano (Caracas, Venezuela/Wallenpaupak) in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1.
Lafayette junior Shannon Rowe (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) dropped the No. 3 singles match to Nicole Cercone, 6-2, 6-3 while sophomore Ali Kelley (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) fell 6-3, 7-5, to Lorell Zamot at the No. 4 spot.
Sophomores Jessica Abel (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and Susan King (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) dropped matches at the No. 5 and 6 singles spots. Abel fell 6-0, 6-2 to Seton Hall's Jasmine Wolcott while King also fell in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1 to Beth Dugan.
In doubles action, Seton Hall's Lassalle/Cercone teamed up to beat Lafayette's Fardishisheh/Rowe at No. 1 doubles (8-3) while the Pirates' Barfuss/Zamot won at the No. 2 spot over the Leopards' Serrano/Kelley (8-5). Lafayette's sophomore duo of Abel/Lisa Sayed (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Huron) fell at No. 3 doubles, 8-2.
Lafayette (8-3, 0-1) will take a two- week hiatus before hosting Rider on April 1 at 3 p.m.
