EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette men's tennis team dropped a Patriot League match up to Colgate, 5-2, on Sunday at Sullivan Courts.
Freshman Matt Coin won the top singles spot over Colgate's Reed Hagmann in three sets, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3. Junior co-captain H'Cone Thompson defeated the Raiders' Eric Saccullo in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.
Colgate swept the remaining four singles matches to take a 4-2 lead. Junior Ryan Collins dropped the No. 4 match to J.P. Johnson after a first-set tiebreaker, 7-6 (3), 6-2. Colgate's Evan Ambrose toppled Lafayette's John Zazzu in three sets, 1-6, 7-6 (7), (5). Senior co-captain Mike Levey and freshman Brian Schubert fell at No. 5 and 6 singles to Colgate's Zander Lowe and Peter Oman.
The Raiders earned the doubles point with a sweep of all three matches.
Lafayette (13-6, 1-5) closes out its' regular season by hosting archrival Lehigh tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.
