Men's Tennis Falls To League Foe American, 6-1

EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - In a Patriot League showdown at Sullivan Courts, the Lafayette men's tennis team fell, 6-1, to American. The Eagles swept five of the six singles spots while winning the doubles point by winning two of the three matches.

Lafayette (10-4, 1-2) junior co-captain H'Cone Thompson (Washington, D.C./DeMatha) defeated the Eagles' Josh Procacci at the No. 2 spot, 4-6, 7-6 (5), (8-6), for the Leopards' lone win in singles competition. Freshman Matt Coin (Wenonah, N.J./Gateway) fell at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0.

At No. 3 singles, junior Ryan Collins (Whitehouse Station, N.J./Hunterdon Central Regional) fell, 6-1, 7-6 (8), despite a hard-fought second set. Sophomore Devin Murphy (Ruxton, Md./Boys Latin School) was handed a 6-1, 6-1 loss at No. 4 singles.

Freshman John Zazzu (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) fell at the No. 5 spot, 6-0, 6-3 while senior Mike Levey (Pine Brook, N.J./Montville) was downed in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

Lafayette's doubles team of Coin/Thompson won at the No. 1 spot, 9-8 (2). Collins/Zazzu fell at the No. 2 spot (8-4) while Murphy/Brian Schubert (Richmond, Va./Mills E. Godwin) were defeated at No. 3 doubles, 8-4.

Lafayette (10-4, 1-2) returns to action on Sunday when it travels to Philadelphia to take on Drexel at 11 a.m.
