EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette won eight out of nine matches on its way to an 8-1 season-opening victory over St. Joseph's on Wednesday afternoon at Sullivan Courts.
Freshman Chez Saricas posted scores of 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and junior Monika Serrano won, 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 3 spot. Lily Fardshisheh, Susan King and Jessica Abel also added singles wins for the Leopards.
Co-captains Fardshisheh and Shannon Rowe teamed for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while Katie Gibbons and Stephanie Rosman also came away with an 8-1 victory at No. 3 doubles for the Leopards.
Lafayette (1-0) travels to Franklin & Marshall on Thursday for a 4 p.m. match that will also include a match between the schools' men's teams.
