Men's Tennis Participates in ECAC Championships

PRINCETON, N.J. (www.lafayette.edu) - Defending champions Matt Coin and H'Cone Thompson both advanced to the single semifinals of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament in Princeton, N.J. Dan Seward and Brett Warren also advanced to the next round. The Leopards as a team have eight-and-a-half points in the tournament.

In first singles, Coin defeated Leland Tien of Bucknell, 6-4, 6-2, while Warren downed Moravian's Tasch Tinsleys, 6-2, 6-0.

Thompson, who won the second singles last year, beat Dan Wynne of Fairleigh-Dickinson, 6-2, 6-1. Seward posted a 6-2, 6-3 win over John Laramie of Loyola.

The doubles tandem of Ryan Collins and John Zazzu lost to Garrett Neff and Asher Salam of Bucknell, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. They did win a consolation match, though, beating Mike Sophia and Jon Lobb of Cabrini, 8-0.

The tournament action continues through Monday. Lafayette returns home for a dual match Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. against Monmouth.
