TOWSON, Md. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette's men's tennis team opened the 2003-04 season with a 7-0 win at Towson on Wednesday.
Brett Warren (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland), Andrew Mott (Corpus Christi, Texas/Mary Carroll) and Devin Murphy (Buxton, Md./Boys Latin School) picked up straight-set wins at first, second and sixth singles, respectively.
John Zazzu (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) and Craig Helstowski (Shrewsbury, Mass./Saint John) were three-set winners at third and fourth singles, while Peter Titus (Brightwaters, N.Y./Bay Shore) earned the win at fifth singles when his opponent retired in the second set.
Warren and Helstowski were 8-6 winners at first doubles, while Mott and Jeremy Fehrs (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) teamed for an 8-6 win at second doubles.
Lafayette returns to action this weekend, playing in the ECAC Championships in Mercer Park, N.J. on Saturday and Sunday.
