Lafayette Women's Tennis Competes at Hampton Roads Collegiate Invitational

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette's women's tennis team took on some of the top players on the East Coast in its final outing of the fall season over the weekend, taking part in the Hampton Roads Collegiate Invitational.

The Leopards, traveling with a group that included five freshmen and a sophomore, were shutout in six singles matches and three doubles pairings.

After earning a first-round bye, freshman Jacqui Bonder fell to George Washington's Kendall Swenson, the eventual runner-up in Flight B-1 Singles.

Lauren Clarke and Katie Ritter drew a bye in Flight A-1 Doubles, but also fell to eventual runner-up Susan Pollack and Sari Shuster from Delaware. Danielle Bailey and Jessica Kissen were also beaten by the second-place team in Flight B-1 Doubles.

Lafayette is off until on Feb. 19, when the Leopards open the spring season at St. Francis (Pa.).
