JERSEY CITY, N.J. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette's women's tennis team closed out its three-match road swing with a third consecutive 7-0 whitewashing, this one over St. Peter's on Tuesday.
The Leopards (9-3) took all six singles matches in straight sets, with the closest match being a 6-4, 6-2 victory for Susan King (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) at third singles. Meghan Fitzgerald (Fairfield, Conn./Lauralton Hall Academy) and Danielle Bailey (Kalispell, Mont./Flathead) were victorious at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively, by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores, while Ali Kelley (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) and Stephanie Rosman (Margate, N.J./Peddie) posted 6-0, 6-1 wins at No. 2 and No. 4 singles, respectively.
Kelley and Rosman improved their doubles record to 12-2 with an 8-2 win at first doubles, while Fitzgerald and Monika Serrano (Caracas, Venezuela/Wallenpaupak) won their debut match as a doubles tandem in impressive fashion, 8-0.
Lafayette is back in action on Wednesday, hosting Williams at 3 p.m.
