EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Colgate's men's tennis team claimed a 6-1 win over Lafayette in the Patriot League opener for both teams on Saturday at Sullivan Courts.
Sophomore Peter Titus (Brightwaters, N.Y./Bay Shore), who celebrated his birthday on Saturday, was a double-winner for the Leopards. He defeated Colgate's Jake Heims 6-3, 6-1 at third singles, then teamed with John Zazzu (Belle Mead, N.J./Montgomery) for an 8-3 win at third doubles.
Devin Murphy (Buxton, Md./Boys Latin School) and Colgate's Evan Ambrose hooked up in the most entertaining match of the day at No. 6 singles, with Ambrose eventually walking away with a 6-1, 6-7(3), 10-3 win.
Due to a rainout on Thursday, the Leopards entered Saturday's first league contest having not played a match in two weeks.
