EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lafayette's women's tennis team opened Patriot League play with its second straight 7-0 loss, this one at the hands of American on Sunday.
Chez Saricas (Stamford, Conn./Trinity Catholic) fell in three sets to Krissy Georgieva at No. 1 singles, 5-7, 6-0, 10-8. She was the only Leopard to win a set in the match.
American's Kate Kollarova, the reigning Patriot League Player of the Year, was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Monika Serrano (Caracas, Venezuela/Wallenpaupak) at second singles.
The Leopards had solid showings in the doubles matches, with Saricas and Serrano falling to Kollarova and Georgieva, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles and Ali Kelley (Little Silver, N.J./Red Bank Catholic) and Stephanie Rosman (Margate, N.J./Peddie) dropping an 8-5 decision at No. 3 doubles.
Lafayette (9-5) is back in action on Tuesday, hosting Rider in a non-league match at 3 p.m.
