PROVIDENCE, R.I. (www.lafayette.edu) - Junior Jeremy Fehrs' run to the semifinals of the No. 7 singles draw highlighted Lafayette's efforts at the 2004 Northeast Intercollegiate Invitational held at Brown University over the weekend.
Fehrs recorded a 6-4, 6-3 win over Alex Abji of Niagara in the opening round, then rallied for a 1-6, 6-2, 6-1 win over Sean Tully of Marist in the second round. Dave Collins of Army, the eventual champion of the seventh singles draw, handed Fehrs a 7-6, 6-2 defeat in the semis.
Freshmen Brett Kraft and Paul Guarino both won matches in the consolation bracket for the Leopards, while Fehrs and Alex Georgen earned bye in the first round of the No. 3 doubles draw before bowing out.
Lafayette is back in action this weekend, traveling to Siena on Friday and hosting Fordham on Sunday.
