EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Lisa Fung-Kee-Fung won all three of her matches to lead Lafayette to a pair of victories in women's tennis action last weekend.
Fung-Kee-Fung, the 2004-05 Patriot League Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year, earned a hard fought 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-0) victory at first singles over Roxy Ionescu of Saint Francis (Pa.). The Leopards won the other three singles matches handily.
Meghan Fitzgerald and Lauren Clarke teamed up for a 6-2, 6-2 win to claim the doubles point in Lafayette's 5-0 win over the Red Flashes on Saturday at Sullivan Courts.
On Sunday afternoon at Towson, Chez Saricas played No. 1 singles and won her match 6-4, 6-3. Fung-Kee-Fung was a 7-5, 6-0 winner at No. 2, and Julia Strang improved her singles record this fall to 7-0 with a 6-4, 7-5 win at third singles.
Ansley Scudder (No. 4 - 6-3, 6-0) and Clarke (No. 5 - 6-0, 6-0) also won their singles matches. Fitzgerald dropped her third-set tiebreaker, 11-9, as Towson picked up its only point of the day at No. 6 singles.
The combinations of Saricas/Strang, Fung-Kee-Fung/Clarke and Scudder and Stephanie Rosman were all victorious in doubles play.
Lafayette will prepare for the ITA East Regional with home matches against Siena and Drexel next weekend, Oct. 15 and 16.
