EASTON, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - Navy won four singles matches in straight sets to fend off a pesky Lafayette squad in Patriot League men's tennis action on Monday.
Sophomore Andrew Mott and freshman Paul Guarino were responsible for Lafayette's three wins on the day. The duo combined for a 9-8(1) win at No. 1 doubles, then were individual winners in singles action. Mott rallied for a 6-7(9), 6-4, 10-1 win at No. 1 singles, while Guarino was a 7-6(4), 7-5 winner at No. 6 singles.
Navy (13-10 overall, 4-2 Patriot League) took No. 2 and No. 3 doubles by scores of 8-5 and 8-6, respectively, to claim the team doubles point.
Lafayette (14-9, 0-5) closes out the 2005 season on Tuesday, visiting Lehigh at 3 p.m.
