PITTSBURGH, Pa. (www.lafayette.edu) - The Lafayette women's tennis team earned its second win of the spring and improved to 11-0 for the year with a 7-0 decision over Robert Morris on Saturday at the Pittsburgh Indoor Tennis Center.
Lisa Fung-Kee-Fung and Lauren Clarke got things rolling at No. 1 doubles with an 8-0 win. Julia Strang and Meghan Fitzgerald won 8-5 at second doubles and Stephanie Rosman and Danielle Bailey had an 8-2 match at No. 3.
Fung-Kee-Fung and Strang easily won their matches at the top two singles spots. Clarke had to fight from a set down at No. 3 before pulling out a 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory. Fitzgerald was also a double winner for the Leopards with a 6-0, 6-2 score at No. 5.
Ansley Scudder won a first set tiebreaker 7-5 and cruised in the second set for a 7-6, 6-1 win in the fourth slot. Sarah Sykes blanked her opponent at sixth singles.
The Leopards will travel to Connecticut next weekend for matches with Fairfield on Saturday and Quinnipiac on Sunday.
