EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette women's tennis team was back in action for the first time since a Patriot League tri-match two weekends ago and dropped a 7-0 non-conference decision against Delaware on a sunny Monday afternoon at Sullivan Courts.
"It was a good match overall, but Delaware just came up stronger when it needed to," said head coach Eric Ratchford.
The Leopards' lone win on the day came at the No. 2 doubles spot, as sophomores Julia Strang and Sarah Sykes took down Delaware juniors Alexa Dragonette and Julie Schiller by an 8-4 score. However the Blue Hens managed to get the doubles point by virtue of both first and third doubles victories.
Delaware went on to sweep Lafayette in singles action with the closest match coming in the sixth flight when Laura Honig of Delaware escaped with a 6-1, 7-6 (4) win over junior Jacqui Bonder.
The Leopard men are set to host Delaware on Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. at Sullivan Courts, while the women return to action at Rider on Thursday at 3 p.m.
