Match Results

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - The Lafayette men's tennis team won its first non-conference team match, 6-1, over Rider Friday afternoon. Lafayette dominated, winning five of the six singles matches and winning the doubles point with victories at first and third singles.

The Leopards fell in only the first singles match, with senior Brett Kraft losing to Casey Jedlinsky, 6-2, 7-5. The team swept the second through sixth singles against Rider. Sophomore Eric Wiley defeated Josh Rultenberg 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2. At third singles, classmate Matt McGranaghan won 0-6, 7-5, 13-11 over Rider's Will Haight.

Sophomore James Murphy recorded a 6-0, 6-2 victory against Marc Ashed while rookies Justin Haar and Kyle MacLelland won their matches at fifth and sixth singles. Haar defeated Chris Esposito, 6-2, 6-4 and MacLelland was victorious over Robert Olsen.

In doubles, the Leopards won two of the three matches to secure the point. The duo of Kraft and Wiley defeated Jedlinksy and Rultenberg 8-5 at No. 1. In third doubles, Murphy paired with Haar to shutout the opposition, winning 8-0 over Mike Straub and Esposito.

The men's tennis team opens its home season when it hosts St. Francis (Pa.) Sunday at 3 p.m.
