Norfolk, Va. - Lafayette's men's tennis team took on some of the top players on the East Coast on Oct. 11-12 at the Sergio Tacchini Collegiate Invitational.
Doug Gallagher and Kyle MacLelland were Lafayette's most successful doubles pair as they reached the finals in Flight C-1 Doubles.
They defeated Daniel Schneider and Lee Wexler of George Mason 8-4 in the quarterfinals and Brian Nguyen and Ben Trabin of Drexel 8-5 in the semifinals before falling to David Shaheen and Alex Hanno of Villanova in the finals 8-2.
Gallagher and MacLelland also recorded the only two singles wins for the Leopards. Gallagher won his sets 6-1 against Jason Savage-Pollack in a quarterfinal match in the Flight B-3 Singles.
MacLelland defeated Ben Trabin 6-1, 6-7 (4); 1-0 in a round of 16 matchup in Flight C-2 Singles.
Also competing for the Leopards were juniors Matt McGranaghan and James Murphy along with sophomores Justin Harr and James Sparacio.
Lafayette will travel to New Haven, Conn., for the ITA Regionals at Yale from Oct. 16-21 for in its final outing of the fall season.
