PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Lafayette women's tennis team lost its first match of the season in a 6-1 defeat at St. Joseph's on Wednesday.
After Ansley Scudder, Allie Seranko, Sarah Sykes, Rachel Rohinsky and Caitlin Gordon all dropped their matches, sophomore Emily DeLuca broke St. Joseph's hold with the Leopards' lone singles win.
She claimed her sets against Tristin Reppert 6-2, 6-3 in the last singles match of the day.
DeLuca then paired with classmate Kristie Cavanagh to defeat Reppert again, who competed alongside Katy Borden, 8-4 in the final doubles match.
The Leopards will take a nine-day break before returning to the courts at the ITA Regional at Penn in Philadelphia beginning Oct. 24.
