HAMDEN, Conn. - The Leopards drop a 7-0 contest to Quinnipiac in men's tennis on Saturday. After an impressive start in the fall season, Lafayette has lost its first two this spring.
Rookie Justin Haar dropped his first singles match at No. 1 to John Hughes, 6-3. 7-5. In the second spot, sophomore Eric Wiley lost in three sets to Brian Mikkelson (6-2, 3-6, 6-3). At No. 3 senior Brett Kraft and at No. 4 junior Lee Kojanis both lost before paring up in first doubles. Kraft and Kojanis lost their doubles match 8-4.
Sophomore James Murphy, in fifth singles, lost 6-2, 6-3 to Scott Salway. Freshman Kyle MacLelland took it to three sets before losing to Tom Curran, 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (6).
Wiley and Murphy were defeated 8-6 at No. 2 doubles and Haar and MacLelland lost their battle at No. 3 doubles 9-8 (1).
The Leopards continue the spring season when they open competition against Patriot League foe Navy on Feb. 23 in Annapolis, Md.
