WINSTON SALEM, N.C. - The Lafayette women's tennis team split its two matches in the Tar Heel State on Tuesday. After a shutout loss at Campbell, 7-0, the Leopards rebounded with a 6-1 victory at Winston-Salem State.
After rain postponed Monday's scheduled match against Winston-Salem State, the Leopards were forced to travel more than 100 miles between the two schools in a single day's worth of competition. Lafayette started out at in Buies Creek, N.C., to face Campbell.
The Leopards won two sets against the Camels as Allie Seranko emerged with a 6-3 victory in her second set against Blanca Saenz in the first singles, and Emily DeLuca won her first set against Sara Fontaine, 6-3, in the final singles.
Lafayette bounced back against Winston-Salem State, defeating the Rams, 6-1. Rachel Rohinsky set the tone right away with a win over Johanna Nunez (6-2, 4-6, 15-13). Caitlin Gordon blanked Tina Wright in both of her sets in the fourth singles.
Lafayette swept the doubles competition, handing each of the Rams' three pairs an 8-2 loss.
The Leopards continue their four-match road trip to Charleston, S.C. to face the College of Charleston at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
