NEWARK, Del. - Neither the Lafayette men's nor women's tennis team could find its rhythm at Delaware on Wednesday. The Blue Hens swept the Leopards, 7-0, in both matches.
Eric Wiley extended his No. 1 singles match to three sets after edging Austin Longacre in the second set, 6-2, but Wiley fell in the final set, 6-1.
Doug Gallagher also came close in the No. 2 singles, but Andrew Vorobyov won the battle in the first set, 7-6 (5), and followed with a 6-3 win.
In the women's match, the Blue Hens took six of their 12 singles sets, 6-0. Caitlin Gordon had the Leopards' most success of the day in the No. 5 singles, losing her sets 6-2, 6-3.
Lafayette returns home after a four-match road trip when the women (3-5) host LaSalle on Friday at 4:30 p.m. The men (4-5) take on Quinnipiac on Saturday at noon.
