EASTON, Pa. - After three straight conference matches on the road, the Lafayette men's tennis team returned to Easton on Thursday to host Navy, but the familiar surroundings of its home court did not work in the Leopards' favor. The Midshipmen ran away with a 7-0 victory.
The Mids (16-7), who finished league play undefeated with Thursday's win, swept all three doubles matches to take the doubles point, and the momentum carried over into singles play.
Eric Wiley won his first set, 6-4, in No. 1 singles, but Nate Nelms pulled out victories in the next two sets to claim the match.
Marcus Rebersak narrowly edged Justin Haar in the second set of No. 3 singles, 7-6, to take the match.
The Leopards (6-9) continue league play at home on Saturday with a 1 p.m. match against Colgate. In the event of rain, the match will be held at Northwood Racquet and Fitness Club starting at 2:30 p.m. (women first, then men).
