Lafayette Takes One of Three

EASTON, Pa. -

Lafayette (5-7) traveled to West Point, N.Y. to take on three Patriot League rivals and ended up taking one of three matches. The Leopards lost 7-0 to Army on Friday, beat Holy Cross 7-0 on Saturday and lost 6-1 to Colgate on Sunday.

On Friday, Eric Wiley, Doug Gallagher and Scott Gelbman took their matches into the third set but fell short in the end losing to their opponents. In doubles, Wiley and Gallagher teamed up to defeat Chris Albornoz and John Lucero 8-3.

On Saturday, Lafayette swept Holy Cross to earn its fifth win on the season. At No. 4 singles Justin Harr defeated Chris Das 6-0, 6-1, while at No. 5 Gelbman defeated Tim Regan 6-1, 6-1. In doubles, James Murphy and partner Andrew Morris teamed up at No. 2 doubles to defeat Dan Phelan and Chris Das 8-3.

On Sunday, Wiley started Lafayette off on the right foot by defeating Michael Yassky 6-4, 6-3. In doubles, Wiley and partner Gallagher, teamed up to defeat Yassky and John Nagueras 8-7 (3).

Lafayette will play at Navy on Saturday, April 3 at 10:30 a.m.
