PHILADELPHIA - The Lafayette women's tennis team returned to action after a month-long hiatus on Wednesday, falling at Saint Joseph's by a score of 5-2. Freshmen Lucy Bass and Liza Blank won their singles matches for the Leopards.
Bass was victorious at No. 5 singles, claiming a straight-set decision, 6-4, 6-2. Blank also won in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6 (3), at No. 6 singles.
Though the Hawks claimed the doubles point, junior Katherine Charchalis and freshman Austin Denesuk won their match at No. 2, 8-6. Blank and senior Emily DeLuca also won a doubles match, 8-3, though that match was not included in the overall team scoring.
The Leopards begin Patriot League on Saturday, March 26 at Army. Lafayette meets the host Black Knights at noon then closes the weekend against Holy Cross at 8 p.m.
