BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Lafayette men's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to Navy on Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the Patriot League Tournament at Lehigh.
The Leopards, the No. 6 seed in the tournament, finish the 2010-11 season at 7-11. The third-seeded Midshipmen, who have won four consecutive Patriot League championships, will play either No. 2 Lehigh or No. 7 Holy Cross tomorrow afternoon in a semifinal match.
Doug Gallagher and Andrew Morris won their match at No. 2 doubles, though the Midshipmen claimed the doubles point. Due to the tournament format that requires the winners to play on as many as three consecutive days, singles competition was stopped after three matches when Navy clinched the match with a 4-0 lead. Kyle MacLelland had won the first set of his match at No. 6 singles when the Midshipmen were declared the winners.
