EASTON, Pa.- The Lafayette's men's and women's tennis teams matched up against Drexel and Fairfield over the weekend, falling in all four matches. On Saturday, the Leopards hosted Fairfield with the men falling 4-3 and the women taking a 5-2 defeat. Against Drexel, the men fell 4-1 and the women lost, 5-0.
Senior Brandon Goldstein and junior Brian Stefanowicz won the first of three double matches by a 6-4 decision. In singles, senior Jake Lazer won against Fairfield's Dylan Appel with a 6-2, 6-2 final score. Also, junior Chris Matturri and freshman Mason Keel put wins on the board by 6-4, 3-6, 11-9, and 8-4 decisions, respectively.
For the women, juniors Caroline Nixon and Catherine Senopoulos won their single matches versus Fairfield. Nixon downed her opponent by a 6-4, 2-6, 11-9 tally, while Senopoulos finished with a score of 7-5, 7-6(5).
On Sunday, the men's team fell at Drexel by a 4-1 final. Matturri won again by a 1-6, 7-6(5), 10-7 score for the Leopards' lone victory. On the women's side, Drexel swept the Leopards by a 5-0 final.
