WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Lafayette women's tennis team competed in its Patriot League opener in West Point, N.Y. on Friday afternoon, falling by a 7-0 score to Army.
Caroline Nixon and Rocine Moschella dropped a tiebreaking single-set match in the top doubles slot, 7-6, as the Leopards fell in all nine matches on the day. Catherine Senopoulos won three games in her 6-3, 6-0 loss at third singles, while Senopoulos and Ally Simels also picked up three games won in their 6-3 doubles loss.
"The girls played very well for not practicing in over a week," interim head coach Ralph Van Ormer said. "Caroline and Rocine played exceptional in their doubles match."
The loss moves the Leopards to 1-6 on the year and 0-1 in league action. The Maroon and White are back at it on Saturday, battling Holy Cross in West Point at noon. Below are the full results from Friday's contest.
