EASTON, Pa. – The Lafayette men's tennis team closed out regular-season play on Sunday afternoon at Sullivan Courts, falling to Patriot League foe Loyola, 6-1.
Senior Christ Matturri was victorious in his final regular-season match as a Leopard, winning 6-0, 6-3 in the top singles spot. Unfortunately, Lafayette dropped all eight other matches to lead to the 6-1 final.
Gavin Studner was competitive at the second singles spot, losing by a 6-4, 6-4 score, while both of the top two doubles matches went to 10 games with the Leopards dropping contests at 6-4 each.
The Leopards will be the eight seed in the Patriot League Tournament, beginning with first-round play on Thursday afternoon. Lafayette will battle with ninth-seeded Holy Cross at Lehigh at 3 p.m., with the winner taking on the top seed at 10 a.m. on Friday morning.
