EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette women's tennis team made their first competitive action this fall on Sullivan Courts a successful performance as they won all of the contested singles and doubles matches in a 7-0 victory over visiting Monmouth.
The Leopards did not drop a set and only one match featured a set that went to tiebreak. Sophomores
Cecelia Lesnick and
Samantha Snyder, juniors
Meredith Block and
Grace Conrad along with freshman
Maureen McCormack all contributed to singles and doubles wins. Junior
Katie Hill and sophomore
Ruthie Wilson also picked up singles victories and sophomore
Alexa Cooke teamed with McCormack for a win at No. 3 doubles.
"This was a good team victory all the way from doubles to the singles," Lafayette head coach
Ralph Van Ormer said. "Everyone put forth a great effort to finish the match with a 7-0 victory."
Van Ormer praised Snyder and Block for their notable 6-1, 6-0 victories at No. 2 and No. 5 singles, respectively. The Leopards finish the fall portion of the schedule with a home match on Sat., Oct. 20 against University of California-Irvine.
