EASTON, Pa. - The Lafayette women's tennis team earned the doubles point against visiting Marist but could muster a win in only one of six singles pairings in a 5-2 setback at Northwood Racquet Club.
Cecelia Lesnick and
Samantha Snyder routed their counterparts 6-1 at No. 1 doubles and
Meredith Block and
Grace Conrad followed suit with a 6-2 victory at No. 3 to give Lafayette a 1-0 lead heading into singles action.
The Leopards could not carry that momentum over into singles play, however, as freshman
Maureen McCormack's 7-5, 7-6 (6-3) victory at No. 3 singles against the Red Foxes' Sophia Moeller accounted for the only victory by the hosts on the singles slate.
Lafayette has a chance for redemption at noon Sunday when they host Coppin State in an indoor match.
