WEST POINT, N.Y. - Both the Lafayette Men's and Women's Tennis teams dropped the rubber match on Sunday to wrap up a weekend of Patriot League action at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center on the campus of Army West Point.
After defeating Holy Cross on Saturday evening, the men's squad lost a hard-fought 4-1 contest to Loyola Maryland. An 8-6 (7-6) setback at No. 1 doubles swung the doubles point in the Greyhounds favor.
John Yurconic and
Daniel Kramer were able to defeat their counterparts from Loyola at No. 2 doubles and
William Barry earned a team point with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles.
On the women's side, Lafayette was able to capture the team doubles point against Loyola behind victories from
Alexa Cooke and
Maureen McCormack as well as the tandem of
Grace Conrad and
Meredith Block.
Conrad was also able to contribute a win at No. 4 singles but it was not enough as the Leopards came up short in a 4-2 outcome.
Both programs are 1-2 in the Patriot League and will head to Colgate University and Boston University next weekend to continue the Patriot League schedule.
