LEWISBURG, Pa. - Cecelia Lesnick and Grace Conrad were double winners to spark the Lafayette Women's Tennis team to a 4-0 win over Holy Cross in the opening round Thursday of the Patriot League Wen's Tennis Championships on the Bison Varsity Courts at Bucknell.

Lesnick teamed with Samantha Snyder for a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles while Conrad and partner Meredith Block defeated their counterparts from Holy Cross 6-3 at No.3 doubles to clinch the team doubles point for the Leopards.

Freshman Maureen McCormack joined Lesnick and Conrad in the singles winners circle with a 6-0, 6-0 win over the Crusaders' Sophie Papa at No. 3 singles.

"It was a great job all around," said head coach Ralph Van Ormer. "That was an impressive win by McCormack and also Cece Lesnick to close out the match."

Next up for eighth-seeded Lafayette is a pairing against No. 1 Boston University. The Terriers were a perfect 6-0 in Patriot League matches in 2019, including a 7-0 win over the Leopards on March 31.

Due to a gloomy weather forecast, the match is scheduled to take place at 8:30 a.m. on Friday at the Central PA Tennis Center in Williamsport, Pa.  Quarterfinal action will continue all day with the semifinals on Saturday and the Championship on Sunday.
