PISCATAWAY, N.J.- The Lafayette field hockey team traveled to No. 3 Rutgers this Sunday, just falling to the Scarlet Knights 2-1. The Leopards finish the regular fall 2021 season with an impressive overall record of 13-5 and 4-2 in Patriot League play.

Jennifer Stone and the No. 2 seeded Leopards will take the championship field for the 21
st time in program history this upcoming weekend, against defending Patriot League Champion Bucknell. The Bison earned the third seed spot this year. American and Lehigh are seeds No. 1 and 4, respectively, and will be competing in the other semifinal round.
There were few opportunities for each team as the score remained tied 0-0 during the first half with only six shots taking place.
Rutgers struck first at 39:23 in the third quarter with a goal by Rachel Houston and quickly followed it up with another by Tayla Parkes at 42:13.

Alix Talkow earned the Leopards lone goal at 49:20 in the final quarter after stealing the ball from a Rutgers defender and shooting above the oncoming goalkeeper.
Rutgers had 12 shots and three penalty corners total, while Lafayette took only five shots and had one corner opportunity.

Hailey Abbott made four saves today, while her Rutgers counterpart, Gianna Glatz, made two in the victory.
The Leopards face Bucknell for the second time in just under one week during the semifinal round of the Patriot League Tournament this Thursday at 2 p.m. in Washington, D.C.
