West Point, N.Y. -- Lafayette College men's tennis got off to a strong start to Patriot League play with its first win of the slate over Holy Cross. The Leopards rallied to a 4-1 win over the Crusaders in the second match of the day after falling to Army, 5-0, to start the doubleheader.

Lafayette surged from the start against the Crusaders with 6-1 wins from senior pairing John Yurconic and Daniel Kramer and second flight pairing William Barry and Davis Esslinger to take the doubles point.

Barry and Kramer continued their momentum into singles with straight-sets wins. Barry, a junior who had taken the first set of his first flight singles match against Army earlier in the day, picked up his first singles win of the year, 6-0, 6-3, over the Holy Cross No. 1, Matthew Slowinski. Kramer dropped just two games across singles and doubles against the Crusaders after a 6-1, 6-0 win at fifth flight singles. Sophomores Josh Wolfe and Nash Lovallo were both leading their singles matches after taking the first set when the match was called.

The Leopards take on Fordham in their next match at noon on Sunday.
