DeRose to Step Down as Lafayette Fencing Coach

Search is underway for his replacement

EASTON, Pa. - Dayn DeRose, who has worked as Lafayette's fencing coach since 2022, is stepping down in order to focus on his personal business ventures. A search for his successor will begin immediately.

"Thank you to Dayn for working so closely with our group of dedicated fencers," said Lafayette Director of Athletics Sherryta Freeman. "We wish him the best of luck as he steps away into his next chapter."

DeRose was in the midst of his fourth season as the Leopards' head coach and had previously served as an assistant coach (2015-17) on College Hill. In 2024-25, along with assistant coach Jennifer Hergert, the Maroon and White sent 16 fencers to the NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional and senior Antoine Mannes won the MACFA epee Championship.

Prior to coming to Lafayette, DeRose spent 20 seasons (1995-2015) as the head fencing coach at Drew University, leading the program to the most successful period in program history.
