Tennis Adds Five Freshmen to 2025-26 Squads

Leopards set to begin fall matches in late September

EASTON, Pa.- The Lafayette men's and women's tennis teams have added three and two first-years, respectively, to the 2025-26 rosters as announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Men's Tennis
John Dickens | Milton, Mass. / Milton
Dickens is planning to major in Biology and has four years of high school tennis experience. He has two brothers, Nate and Cam.

Ricky Espaillat | Parkland, Fla. / Saint Andrews
Espaillat spent four years on the Saint Andrews tennis team and won one state championship. He plans to major in Neuroscience and has three sisters.

Nikolas Martirossian | Ridgewood, N.J. / Ridgewood
Martirossian is set out to major in Economics. As a two-sport athlete, he played four seasons of both tennis and soccer. In tennis, he was the number one player in singles and helped the squad to a state championship, a state sectional championship and a Bergen County championship. The Ridgewood, N.J. native was selected as a First Team All-County honoree three times and as First Team All-North Jersey recipient two times. He has two siblings, Luca and Ani.

Women's Tennis
Sophia Bald | Little Silver, N.J. / Red Bank Regional
Bald spent three seasons on the varsity tennis team for Red Bank Regional, two of which were at the number one spot. She received Third Team All-Group 3 in 2024 and was recognized as the Female Student Athlete of the Year. Overall, Bald earned three years of high honor roll. Prior to graduation, she secured the Jonathan Maslow Scholarship and the OJ Anderson Scholarship. The Little Silver, N.J. native was given the Cyber Patriot Platinum Award.

Sophia Pacheco | Weston, Fla. / St. Thomas Aquinas
Pacheco played four seasons of varsity in singles and doubles play for St. Thomas Aquinas. She was listed as a Sun Sentinel First Team Honorable Mention for being the number one player. The Weston, Fla. native received Principal's Honor Roll for all four years and placed as a HSF Scholar, a member of the National Honor Society and part of the National Athletic Honor Society. Additionally, Pacheco is the owner of Paddles4aPurpose, a pickleball club to raise awareness for children with leukemia.
